Confidence Is Key

Many children these days lack one thing in common. Confidence. Confidence in themselves, and life in general. As a martial arts academy, our goal is to help children gain confidence in themselves and their ability to learn and progress. Learning that is failure isn’t the end. Its a learning process as are most things in life. The ability to get back up and try again is what really matters. You get knocked down and how you react to it determines whether you grow or become stagnant. As Theodore Roosevelt says

  • “Each time we face our fear, we gain strength, courage, and confidence in the doing.”

With social media, and peer pressure becoming more and more prominent with younger children, its important to teach them how to make the right choices and to have confidence in themselves. The more sturdy your foundations are in yourself, the more you will be able to succeed in life.

At the beginning of each class we have positive affirmations which we have the students recite together. We call it the student creed.

It goes like this,

I am Developing Myself, In a Positive Manner. Gaining Self-discipline, Self-Confidence and a Yes I Can Attitude !

Quitter’s Never Win, Winner Never Quit and I Choose to be a Winner !

I am a Student in a Black Belt Leadership Academy, I am Dedicated, I am Motivated and I am on a Quest to be my Best Sir/Ma’am!

Having confidence can help children with their grades, behavior and even with social skills when it comes to making friends. It will open up many doors for children to explore their passions or new things in general. As E. E. Cummings states

  • “Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit.”
